DMV Agony

I finally got my license changed to Kate Decker. It only took me a year and 2 months! ha! When I went to the DMV today I remembered vividly why. They were so unfriendly! Kristin told me that she recently went down there and all she took was her marriage license and a pay stub and she changed her name and address and it was easy and they were nice. NOT the case for me. I went with my marriage license, a pay stub, my two social security cards (Kammermann and Decker) and my old license. They told me that the pay stub was probably not going to be good enough and that I should have brought a utility bill. This is ridiculous for 2 reasons: We pay our bills online so we don't even have paper utility bills sent to us and even when we did they weren't addressed to me. They were addressed to Matt! They even handed me a printed list of what was acceptable and pay stub was not on there. I wanted to be like, so you'll let my friend do this and not me?? Is it because I'm Asian and you're racist? Is it because she has big boobs? You're a woman! You shouldn't even be affected by that!

They asked if I at least had a state ID. I told them no, but I have my old license issued in this state. That seemed to satisfy her. She said that next time I'd have to bring a utility bill. I'm thinkin, "Lady, there aint gone be a next time." I'm gonna die with this name and address since it's so much stinking trouble."

So she gave me a number finally which was like my ticket saying that I was OK. When they called my number I got a different person. A young guy. I showed him my marriage license and my pay stub and he said, "Congratulations." And I could tell it wasn't about getting married. It was that rude, I couldn't care less congratulations. And I'm thinking, "Well Suzy Control Freak over here was just about to hook me up to the lie detector so excuse me for trying to cover all my bases with you." She was rude but so was he, just in a different way.

They took my picture and the guy before me kept blinking for his and they had to redo it at least 3 times while I was watching, who knows how many times before I was there. So I was definitely not thinking I was gonna get a good one, but I did! The picture is even better than the one I had and that was my main reason for not getting it changed all this time. I didn't want to get my picture taken. So overall it was pretty successful. Take that DMV! Me - 2 The World - 0.
